On Wednesday, February 26, the Port Authority will mark the 27th anniversary of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

We invite all agency employees and family members to join us in remembering our fallen friends and colleagues – Robert Kirkpatrick, Stephen Knapp, William Macko, and Monica Rodriguez Smith and her unborn child – who, along with Windows on the World employee Wilfredo Mercado and visitor John DiGiovanni, lost their lives in the attack that also injured more than 1,000 others.

A commemorative Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 26, at 9:55 AM at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, located at 135 W 31st Street – between Sixth and Seventh avenues – in Manhattan.

Attendees are asked to arrive no later than 9:40 AM, as the Mass will begin promptly at 9:55. At the service, we will join you and many others – including agency retirees, loved ones, and other members of the Port Authority family – in honoring the legacy of these fallen friends and colleagues. Following the Mass, a ceremony will be held at the National September 11 Memorial plaza at noon.

As always, flags at all Port Authority facilities will fly at half-staff in remembrance of our fallen colleagues. A moment of silence will also be observed at 12:18 PM agency-wide. We ask that you join us at that time in quiet reflection.

Through the commemorative Mass, memorial ceremony, and moments of reflection, we can together honor the spirit of these individuals and commit to keeping their memory alive. We are one Port Authority family – united in our dedication to service, and unshakeable in our strength and resilience.
